La mia nuova compagna di banco è una povera disgraziata che viene dal Belgio. Non senza sensi di colpa, io e maritozzo l’abbiamo ribattezzata ofego, l’unico nome che le calzi apparentemente a pennello.
E’ di una bruttezza malsana: un colorino grigio, capelli arruffati tenuti insieme da una ventina di mollette, una sciarpa blu di pashmina sempre (SEMPRE) attorno alla faccia (e, no, non è mussulmana), un viso arcigno anche quando non vorrebbe esserlo.
E’ di un’invadenza irritante. Ha cominciato espandendosi nel mio lato di scrivania con i suoi pidocchiosissimi articoli da prima della classe. Ha continuato frugando nel mio cassetto per prendere la graffettatrice, le forbici, la gomma, il cancellino, la matita, il pennarello. Ha perseverato piantando gli occhi sullo schermo del computer, leggendosi le mie mail e spiando i miei articoli ah, quello l’ho riconosciuto: è il clevers-tal-dei-tali, vero?
E’ dispotica, arrogante e acida. Interrompe chiunque stia parlando, dispensa consigli non richiesti, prende la parola quando tutti la ignorano, risponde alle domande rivolte ad altri, appropriandosi delle storie altrui, raccontandole e sparpagliandole ai mille venti. Ha tanti difetti e io non amo infierire sui casi umani. Però…
Serata PhD students. Party con formaggio e birra. L’ofego si aggira molesta. E’ eccitata, accalorata dall’alcool, dalla voglia di emergere, dalla fatica di dover far sentire la sua voce da criceto. Ad un certo punto, la calma: l’ofego sparisce. Quando ricompare, ha gli occhi lucidi e le guance arrossate. Ah, mi stavate cercando? No, nessun problema… Tutto bene. No, è che… ero andata in bagno.. e poi… sì, sapete avevo tanto sonno… non riuscivo a tenere gli occhi aperti… e quindi, sì, non so bene come dirlo, però… ecco, mi sono addormentata sul water e mi sono svegliata solo adesso…sì, per mezz’ora.. ma sapete, avevo così sonno…
